Sustainability
Being one of Waikato’s leading construction companies, Livingstone has many procedures in place to minimize the effects that our projects have on the environment. We encourage the use of sustainable building materials and ensure the products we use have a long life span and are therefore less likely to need replacing frequently. We also have recycling bins located on all of our sites.
Livingstone is also utilizing technology to further our sustainability. We have recently introduced a tender link to our website, which allows subcontractors to access all our current jobs drawings and specifications. By doing so, we have reduced our printing and paper waste dramatically and are no longer sending upwards of 400 couriers a week.
Green Star and Enviromark
Livingstone has two Green Star accredited professionals on our management team who are able to oversee all projects and educate our staff on how they can be more sustainable on their sites. Green Star has allowed our staff to have a comprehensive understanding of how the building industry in New Zealand effects the environment and ways in which we can minimize these.
Livingstone was also one of the first five Waikato businesses to join New Zealand’s Enviromark program. Enviromark assists businesses in cutting waste, using water and energy more efficiently and controlling environmental concerns. Livingstone has gained imperative knowledge in sustainability and currently holds a platinum certification.
Managed by Land Care Research, the programme assists businesses in: cutting waste, using energy and water more efficiently, and identifying and controlling environmental concerns. Throughout this journey Livingstone has gained a lot of knowledge and experience in environmental sustainability.
We have moved quickly through the different certification levels from Bronze, Silver and Gold and we now hold the Platinum Certification. Livingstone is proud of our achievements and we look forward to continuing to do our bit for the environment in the years to come.
Where we are heading
Livingstone is committed to business sustainability in all aspects of our workplace. We believe in taking sustainability beyond only recycling and encourage our staff to be innovative when it comes to thinking of new ideas which will reduce our global footprint. Livingstone will continue to educate our staff in sustainability and introduce new ideas and policies to our business.
