Te Awamutu Intermediate - Te Awamutu

Livingstone have undertaken two major projects at this school over the last five years.

Each project was in excess of $1,000,000.

The first project was a sports stadium and the second a technology facility.

We were, and are, impressed with the quality of the workmanship and professionalism shown by employees of the company in both instances.

We were very satisfied with the buildings on completion.

All work was carried out in the timeframes agreed.  Communication was excellent at each stage of the projects.

Livingstone would definitely be our preferred builder for any future building projects.

Yours faithfully

To Whom it may Concern

Paterangi School - Ohaupo

We recently engaged Livingstone Builders as the successful tenderers for a building project at our school.

Their tender was comprehensive and clearly submitted with due care and recognition of the constraints of the education sector, while indicating experienced, practical and sound building knowledge.

The construction phase was undertaken in a timely manner with regular consultation and liaison with the school, accommodating student movement and the ongiong learning programmes well.  Livingstone staff on site were always pleasant and easily approachable and the sub-contractors used were well managed.

The quality of workmanship was very high and has left us with space that staff and children alike appreciate and enjoy using.

Livingstone management were easy to work with, eager to provide a quality service and workmanship and monitored the project to ensure the product was one that both we and they were proud of.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Livingstone for further work in our school and to any other prospective client.

To Whom it May Concern

St Peter's School - Cambridge

I have been asked to provide a reference for Livingstone.

I am currently working with Livingstone on a new teaching block and library for St Peter's School, a project with an approximate value of $4million.  Stage 1 of the work will be completed this week.  The project has been run to a tight timeframe, in order to achieve completion for the start of the new year.  The work will be completed this weekend and the school will be teaching in the building from Monday.

Livingstone staff, both on site and in the office, have performed well throughout this challenging project, and showed a willingness to co-operate with both the client and architect to ensure the work is completed on time and to an appropriate standard.

I am confident that Livingstone have the resources and experience to handle projects both small and large, and their positive and helpful attitude during this contract has been appreciated.

Based on my experience with Livingstone on this project, I would be happy to work with them again.

Yours sincerely

Dear David

Jim Wright Nissan - Hamilton

It is now just over two years since we relocated into our new purpose built facility in Te Rapa.

I believe that this is a fair period of time to truly evaluate not only how well the design has met our needs but also reflect on how you as a company have performed before, during and since completion of the property.

I am delighted to report that our customers and staff are all in agreement that this facility is fantastic not only in design and operation but also finished quality.

All the Livingstone team have been professional and helpful with a can do, no problem attitude that has made the project hugely rewarding and enjoyable for me to be involved in.

It has also been satisfying to know that your involvement did not stop at handover.

Any little settling in adjustments required after completion have been resolved perfectly and often on the same day as notified.

This alone is a real testimonial to your ongoing commitment to a totally satisfied client.

Thanks again to all your team and I wish you the success you deserve for the future.

Kind regards

Jim Wright

Dear Greg

Farmer Auto Village - Xtreme

We have now fully settled into our new "home" here at the "Farmer Auto Village - Xtreme".

I can confidently report that all 55 of our team members are absolutely thrilled with the new facility as are our 4000+ customer base.

The building has exceeded our expectations in terms of build quality, designs and ease of operation.

Can I take this opportunity to express my personal thanks to you and your team for the professional manner in which you achieved this "on budget and on time" project.  We especially would like to record our admiration for the excellent job done by your site foreman Marcel Amess.

I think the single key aspect that stands out in terms of your company's service, other than "on budget and on time", has been the close "partnership-non confrontational" style of doing business throughout the planning, consents and build process.

We wish you and your colleagues all the best for a successful future in the Bay.

Yours faithfully

Peter Farmer
Executive Chairman

To whom it may concern:

St Paul's Collegiate - Hamilton

Over the past eighteen months I have had the privilege of working with Chibnall Swann Architects and Livingstone Construction in the development of our new Sports Centre and associated peripheral facilities.

Previous to the Sports Centre, I have worked with Martin Swann from Chibnall Swann, during the process of construction of two other projects; our Student Centre, our Classroom and Science Block redevelopment and the Chapel redevelopment.

I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of the work of both the Chibnall Swann team and the Livingstone's team throughout the Sports Centre project.  From our initial discussions the consortium has been innovative, flexible and tolerant of the many requests we have made as a school.  The brief to create this magnificent building on such a restricted site was certainly a challenge, but I believe that both the architects and builders have done a superb job in incorporating all of our requirements into the finished project.

Two key features stand out from my perspective.  Firstly the idea of relocating and refurbishing our Old Gymnasiuim was an initiative put forward by the consortium that we, as a school didn't think was possible.  The relocation has seen the school retain a building that we initially thought was only fit for demolition.  With some minor modifications once the Old Gym was relocated onto its new site, we have effectively achieved an additional teaching facility at a relatively small outlay.  The renovations have seen the creation of a building that is another excellent teaching space, with considerably more light and warmth than when it was located on its previous site.

Amongst the other key aspects of their design submission was a desire to create a facility that was in keeping with the existing school architecture and sympathetic to the environment the architectural team of Martin, Mira and Megan have seen this goal being fully achieved, and I regularly receive comments from visitors to the site who say that the new building looks as though it has always been there.  The architects have also displayed a real sense of pride in the overall project and I have been comforted that they have been extremely vigilant in the process of quality control.

From a construction perspective my praise for Greg Johnston and his team at Livingstone Construction is also high.  There is no question that of the four construction companies I have worked with during my time at St Paul's, they would be the best.  Working on a school site will always present difficulties for contractors but Livingstone have ensured a high standard of professionalism on all fronts.

The quality of their workmanship has been excellent; the ongoing communication with the school has been first rate; and the completion of all milestones has been achieved in a timely manner.

Project foreman Eliu Leger, has been a pleasure to work with and his control of his workmen and all of the sub contractors has always been in the best interests of the school.

My recommendation for both Chibnall Swann Team Architecture and Livingstone Construction is without reservation, and I would be happy to be contacted for any further information should it be required.

In addition I would be most happy for you to visit our campus for a tour of the buildings.

Yours sincerely

Dear Paula

Waitomo House Redevelopment - 371 Victoria Street Hamilton

Now that we have effectively finished the redevelopment of this building, I thought it timely and necessary to write and thank you, Andy, Ivan and all the guys from Livingstone who worked on the site for a job that more than exceeded my expectations.

As you know, I'm not normally involved in much building work as my clients are buy-and-hold investors who only undertake minor fitout work and renovations. However, in this case it was necessary to almost completely remodel the building from its former use as a department store to more of an office building with a smaller retail component. From the start I only ever considered Livingstone Bros. to complete the task given its reputation. After nearly a year-and-a-half, I have many reasons to be happy with that decision.

Andy Robertson and Ivan Owen have to be two of the nicest, hardest working guys I've ever met. As foremen of the retail and office components respectively, nothing was ever a problem and every little detail was attended to assiduously. I was constantly amazed that such nice guys could quietly crack such big whips when a job needed to be done quickly.

The cost estimates you provided and the timeframes you worked to were consistently achieved, and for this, and the effortless way you handled the whole job, I can't thank you enough.

Needless to say, I'll be in touch when we next have building work to be done as you now have a very loyal customer in us.

Yours sincerely,

Steve McLennan

Dear Sir

Solid Energy New Zealand

On behalf of Solid Energy New Zealand Ltd I wish to express my appreciation for the work your company has done on constructing the laden and unladen vehicle bunds on the top of the Rotowaro Overpass Structure. This project had tight construction timeframes as well as the technical challenge of building a unique structure.

From the pre-contract, and tender negotiation, your company showed a highly cooperative attitude which, when combined with a high level of technical competence and a determination to succeed lead to positive outcomes for this project. These were:

  1. The project was completed within budget (after adjustments for increased laden bund length); and
  2. Three weeks ahead of contract completion date.

We also note the directed and comprehensive follow up from the minor injury accident of your civil works sub-contractor. Whilst all parties regret the occurrence of this incident, the positive outcome was the investigative and reporting procedures that your company undertook.

Overall, I have confidence in your company's performance and look forward to receiving tenders from your company should future building or civil construction opportunites arise.

Your sincerely

Dean Fergusson
