You'll set the tone on site—driving programme, quality, safety, and stakeholder coordination—while building a high‑performing culture that gets projects delivered right, first time.
The opportunity
- End‑to‑end site leadership, from mobilisation and site set‑up through to commissioning and handover.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors to ensure programme, cost and quality targets are met.
- Champion exemplary Health, Safety & Wellbeing standards—proactively managing critical risks, permits to work, audits, reporting and continuous improvement.
- Lift delivery performance through clear communication, disciplined planning, and decisive problem solving.
- Maintain impeccable site records: daily diaries, QA/ITPs, RFI/variation tracking, and client updates.
- 5+ years' experience in a hands-on carpentry position and site management
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand construction contracts and legislation.
- Proven ability in analytical thinking, communication, and financial management.
- Familiar with MS Office, Procore, MS Project
- People management and leadership
- Strong commitment to best practices in Health & Safety, Sustainability, and Environmental standards.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications
- Oversee foremen, carpenters and apprentices as well other sub-contractors
- Deliver toolbox talks and H&S inductions
- Identify and manage site risks as well as monitor QA & QC
- Manage client expectations and work collaboratively with all site staff
- Ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, and ISO standards.
