The multi award-winning Avantidrome was a journey for Livingstone Building. Livingstone was a major component in providing the Home of Cycling facility to the Waikato Region.

Beginning with an 18 month ECI phase, the design was developed through rigorous user group testing, challenging both buildability and viability. Livingstone lead the process from stakeholder engagement, funding, design and consenting to construction. Key contractors and consultants were engaged early to ensure a complete 360 degree review of the project; identifying every opportunity to optimise the design within the defined budget.

Construction of the Avantidrome started in 2012, comprising of 1,100 tonnes of structural steel, 3,500 cubic metres of concrete and 52 kilometres of hand-laid, hand nailed Siberian Spruce timber track. The structure stretches 77 metres wide by 120 metres long. Not only does this structure house a world-class cycling track, it also facilitates a bike shop, café, full gymnasium, Home of Cycling offices, High-Performance Head Sport, Bike NZ, Tri NZ, Waikato University laboratories, conference rooms and outside a skills park and the Te Awa cycleway.

Livingstone completed the Avantidrome build ahead of time and under budget.
