The new 1605m2 building located on the corner of High and Regent streets houses a bigger library, meeting rooms, public toilets, an art gallery and heritage exhibition space, an i-Site visitor centre and cafe.

Designed by Warren and Mahoney and working closely with landscape designers Boffa Miskell, the new building along with a new town square provides a community space for Hāwera and the wider South Taranaki District.

The construction works involved screw piling, concrete foundations and slab, precast concrete and timber walls, steel frame and roof trusses, membrane and warm roofing, aluminium windows and doors, along with a high quality fit-out and site works.
