The architects and builder behind a striking new building in Hamilton East have been recognised.

Livingstone Building NZ and Chow:Hill were named National Category winner for the Ebbett Audi and Ebbett Volkswagen building in the Retail Project section at the Commercial Project Awards 2016.

At a lavish event at Sky City recently, Livingstone Building NZ who together with Chow:Hill created the building, won the Gold Award in the Retail Category for 2016 New Zealand Commercial Project Awards, and then was named the National Category Winner beating 70 entrants.

Livingstone Building NZ and Chow:Hill were elated to deliver this now multiple award-winning dealership for the Ebbett Group. Just recently, Chow:Hill won the NZ Institute of Architecture Award for Commercial Architecture for the same development.

“The Ebbett Audi and Ebbett Volkswagen project showcases excellence in every facet of its construction and this award is a reflection of Livingstone Building NZ and Chow:Hill’s capabilities to bring the concept to life,” said David Livingstone, director of Livingstone Building NZ.

The project was designed to create a bold statement in the public realm, with a focus on the architecture and craftsmanship of the showrooms. Both Livingstone Building NZ and Chow:Hill were proud to work on such an iconic development, showcasing both operations’ passion for delivering innovative, high-quality projects.

Dealer principal Richard van den Engel was thrilled with the result. “Our landmark building has allowed us to provide a 5-star customer experience unique to the motor trade in New Zealand.”

Situated within neighbouring light commercial, community and inner-city residential dwellings, the project team crafted the dealership with the customer experience in mind, from showcasing the vehicle ranges, to stopping in for a service or coffee. The separate brand entities of Audi and Volkswagen were clearly defined with connectivity created by Cafe Osten at the heart of the site.

The dealership has been constructed from quality building materials, featuring double-height showrooms with floor-to-ceiling glazing.
