Livingstone Building was engaged in a 12-month ECI process and subsequently awarded the construction phase of the Resilience Project at the Hamilton Airport.

The project was initiated by a requirement for seismic strengthening, followed by a requisite refurbishment and an opportunity to introduce a cultural narrative to the terminal.

Our ECI team was able to provide prior knowledge of the Hamilton Airport gained through working on the previous major demolition and upgrade of the terminal building, including full understanding of the previous product selection, staging requirements and importance of the terminal remaining operational. We provided value engineering, alternative construction methods and methodology reviews with our preferred structural steel provider.

The construction phase consisted of refurbishment and building improvements to the existing terminal. These works involved foundation strengthening plus strengthening to existing concrete frame and steel members, installing new steel members, internal refurbishment and reconfiguration of the domestic terminal, reconfiguration of the mezzanine departure lounge, and fitout of the management staff office.

The project was 3-phased to ensure the airport could safely remain operation 24/7, with no impact to any flight movements.
