At this year’s NZ Commercial Project Awards, Livingstone took home not one but two Gold Awards, a result that speaks to the skill, dedication, and craftsmanship our people bring to every project they deliver.
Notably, Livingstone was the only Taranaki-based company to receive an award on the night, a distinction the whole team should wear with pride.
Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga: Gold Award, Civic Category
Designed by Warren and Mahoney Architects | Client: South Taranaki District Council
Project Partners: 335 (Electrical Engineer), Dunning Thornton (Civil/Structural Engineer), Saunders Stevenson Ltd (Quantity Surveyor)
Located in the heart of Hawera, Te Ramanui o Ruapūtahanga is more than a building. It’s a place of connection and gathering for the South Taranaki community. Its name, gifted by Ngāti Ruanui, reflects the cultural significance and community intent woven into every aspect of this project from the outset.
Delivered through strong collaboration across the full project team, the build was not without its challenges. Roofing delays and cyclone-damaged panels tested the team’s resolve, but practical, solutions-focused thinking kept momentum going and the project on track. That same resourcefulness showed up throughout the build in the form of genuinely smart, low-waste decision-making: reused paving, reclaimed interior timber, and a repurposed milk vat converted into rainwater storage. Nothing was overdone. The team simply identified what could be saved, gave it a new purpose, and embedded sustainability into the project in ways that were both clever and meaningful.
Throughout construction, transparent site fencing kept the build visible to the public, a small but deliberate gesture that kept the community connected to a space being built for them.
The result is a long-lasting civic asset shaped by partnership, careful decision-making, and real attention to detail. The Gold Award is a recognition not just of technical execution, but of a team that understood what this space means to the people it was built for.

Eagars Funeral Home: Gold Award, Civic Category
Designed by Jackson Architects | Client: Eagars Funerals Limited
Project Partners: BTW Company Ltd (Civil/Structural/Seismic Engineer), Eagars Funeral Home (Client Representative)
The Eagars Funeral Home project demanded disciplined coordination to realise a highly detailed architectural vision, and that’s exactly what our team delivered. Wet weather added pressure to the programme, particularly during installation of the exterior stonework, requiring careful resequencing to protect completed finishes and keep quality uncompromised throughout.
The strength of this project lies in its refined execution. Interior and exterior stone transitions were aligned with precision, ceilings flow seamlessly into soffits, and integrated steelwork, gates, and bespoke joinery reinforce a consistent material language across the entire build. Water has been incorporated as a subtle design element, introducing a sense of calm and reflection that is entirely fitting for the space and the community it serves.
Delivered under a traditional design-bid-build model, the result is a composed, carefully crafted environment that supports both the functional and emotional needs of those who use it. Funeral homes serve communities at their most vulnerable moments. Getting this build right mattered, and the Gold Award reflects a team that understood that responsibility from start to finish.

A proud moment for the Taranaki region
These two Gold Awards are a reflection of what our team does every day: showing up, doing excellent work, and delivering results that the region can be proud of. Being the only Taranaki company to take home an award this year is a mark of just how strong that team is.
A sincere thank you to our project partners, our clients South Taranaki District Council and Eagars, and to the NZ Commercial Project Awards for celebrating the best in New Zealand’s commercial construction industry.
Here’s to the team. Well deserved.
